Jaeger-Coultre: A Rendez-Vous with Time

For delicate and refined women, Jaeger-LeCoultre created the Rendez-Vous line. Gracefully rounded, designed in pure Art Deco style, and graced with a precious mother-of-pearl marquetry dial, it accompanies elegant ladies around the clock. Diamond gem- setting lends the ultimate touch of sophistication to this unusual timepiece.

Echoing the 2009 encounter between Diane Kruger and the Manufacture, the Rendez-Vous collection pays eloquent tribute to the personality of this stellar actress. Her innate grace, her cosmopolitan spirit and her choices inspired the feminine world of Jaeger-LeCoultre. A world with no compromises, in which beauty and refinement are expressed through each beat of the mechanisms driving its creations. Ballerina, fashion model, actress, and quite simply a woman, Diane Kruger has always managed to conduct every moment of her life with self-assured determination, perpetually reinventing herself while losing nothing of her natural finesse and elegance. The same can be said for the feminine creations that continue to forge the legend of Jaeger-LeCoultre and testify to the brand’s amazing creative liberty.

Nobody Does it Better: Omega’s Tribute to James Bond

To celebrate fifty years of James Bond films, OMEGA has released a special update of the incredibly popular Seamaster Diver 300m James Bond watch which has been worn by 007 in every adventure since GOLDENEYE.  We are pleased to carry these Collector’s Pieces in our Newbury Street Watch Salon.

The James Bond 007 50th Anniversary Collector’s Piece has been created in two sizes, 41 mm and 36.25 mm. The cases of the watches are made of stainless steel and they feature ceramic bezel rings with diving scales in matt chromium nitride with the number “50″ in red as a reminder that the watch is celebrating a very special anniversary.

Each version of the watch is presented on a classic brushed and polished OMEGA-patented screw-and-pin stainless steel bracelet.

The lacquered black dial features a 007 monogram. The 41 mm version has 11 applied indexes; the 36.25 mm watch has ten with a diamond index at the 7 o’clock position – a reminder that this watch was created to honour the film history of agent 007. The indexes are coated with white Super-LumiNova with a blue emission, allowing ease of reading in all light conditions. There is a date window at 3 o’clock.

Both versions feature OMEGA’s calibre 2507 self-winding movement fitted with the revolutionary Co-Axial escapement, the component that has driven a revolution in mechanical watchmaking since it was launched in 1999.

The watch is a certified chronometer. Its screw-in case back is stamped with a gun-barrel design. There is a “bullet” decoration fixed on the rotor that can be viewed through a central sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating inside. The watch also has a unidirectional rotating bezel. A helium escape valve allows helium atoms to escape during decompression, particularly necessary for professional divers operating from diving bells.

As its name suggests, the watch is water resistant up to 300 metres. The 41 mm version has been produced in a limited edition of 11’007 pieces and the 36.25 mm version in a limited edition of 3’007 pieces.

While some of the advanced features will appeal particularly to divers, the James Bond 007 50th Anniversary Collector’s Piece will prove irresistible to fans of 007 and to anyone interested in elegant, distinctive timepieces.

Please visit our Newbury Street Watch Salon at 39 Newbury Street in Boston to see these Collector’s Pieces firsthand, email us at [email protected], or call us at 1-800-225-7088.

Diamond Necklace Fit for a Queen

One of the most beautiful diamond necklaces in the world is now on display at Shreve, Crump & Low in one of our vaults.  Inspired by Queen Elizabeth II’s love of diamonds and her Diamond Jubilee, a London-based jeweler who creates jewelry for the Royal Family designed a duplicate of one of Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Riviere necklaces, pictured here.

An impressive 151 carats total, the center diamond is 10.05 carats and is flanked by an 8.04 carat diamond and an 8.80 carat diamond. The 35 diamonds taper to a 2.05 carat diamond in the back.  The diamonds are European cut, with a sterling silver on 18 karat gold setting.

Top Flight IWC Watches at Shreve, Crump & Low

IWC Top Gun Miramar Big Pilot’s Watch

With its passion for innovation and technical inventiveness, IWC Schaffhausen has established an international reputation for watches of the highest quality that last for generations. Founded in 1868 by a gentleman from Boston who moved to Schaffhausen to make watches for the American market, the Swiss watch manufacturers have been creating masterpieces of haute horlogerie that combine precision engineering with exclusive design. IWC collectors can attest to the innovation and expertise of the engineers in Schaffhausen who create robust watches for everyday use to professional sports watches to the complexities of Haute Horlogerie.

For 76 years now, the Schaffhausen-based watchmakers have been producing extraordinarily robust and reliable timepieces that have always met the requirements of contemporary pilots and aircrews. In 1936, IWC launched its first IWC Special Pilot’s Watch. It already had a tough glass, a rotating bezel with an arrowhead index for instantaneous legibility, and an antimagnetic escapement. In the pioneering days of aviation, the main priority was to protect watches against dust, extreme temperature fluctuations and the strong magnetic fields created by cockpit instrumentation.

We carry several lines of Pilot’s Watches at Shreve, Crump & Low, including the new TOP GUN Miramar line in an authentic military-style design. The new Miramar chronograph is characterized by the metallic tones of the ceramic case and the classic military colors. The unconventional division into an external chapter ring and an inner hour circle is a reference to the deck watches of the 1930s and 40s, and thus the historic legacy of IWC Pilot’s Watches. Other features include a flyback function and protection against magnetic fields.

Please visit our Newbury Street Watch Salon in Boston to learn more about IWC Pilot’s Watches and other IWC lines including the Portuguese Chronograph and Aquitimer 2000.  Please email us at [email protected] for additional information or call us at 617-267-9100 or 1-800-225-7088.

Celebrating America’s enduring spirit

Our country’s last remaining Eagle can be found at Shreve, Crump & Low – the Chelsea Clock American Eagle that is.  This limited edition American Eagle Series features Chelsea Clock’s signature 4.5” dial mechanical Ship’s Bell Clock and original wood carvings in the style of famed New England Folk Artist John Haley Bellamy.

Each of the eight pieces in the American Eagle Series is signed by the artist and sequentially hand numbered. A Chelsea Clock certificate of authenticity accompanies each magnificent carving.  Seven of these clocks are now in the hands of collectors.

This special, limited edition collection – which celebrates the enduring American spirit – is masterfully hand-carved by West Newbury, Massachusetts, sculptor Vincent Harrild in the style of famed, nautical woodcarver John Haley Bellamy. Commissioned by Chelsea Clock, Harrild pays homage to Bellamy by creating original works of art that echo the highly stylized, precisely carved eagles for which the former Maine native is world renowned.

Each carving in the American Eagle Series is painstakingly crafted by Harrild from 150-year-old reclaimed eastern white pine, a large soft-wood pine native to the New England region. The artist employs many of the same master carving techniques as Bellamy to carefully reveal the rich character and subtle narrative of each design.  Harrild also uses time-honored methods of hand-applied pigment patination and meticulous 23-karat-gold leafing to colorize each eagle carving, ensuring his creations remain true to Bellamy’s trademark palettes.
