A Rare Offering From Shreve, Crump & Low

17.98ct H Internally Flawless Type IIA Emerald Cut Diamond Ring

Shreve, Crump & Low is proud to announce the acquisition of one of North America’s finest diamonds, a 17.98 carat Internally Flawless Emerald Cut Diamond with a certificate from GIA stating it is Type IIa. For a diamond of that size to be graded internally flawless is quite an achievement, and places it among the rarest in the world.

David Walker, Chief Executive Officer of Shreve, Crump & Low describes the acquisition,
“Owning one of the rarest diamonds in the world is a great achievement for our business, which continues to grow each year. When I was presented with the opportunity to buy a diamond of that magnitude, cut with such great proportions, I could not pass on it. We look forward to finding a proper home for the diamond, with a fine gem collector who will enjoy it for years, and generations to come.”

While each characteristic of the diamond are rare in its own right, it is the combination of them that make it beyond exceptional. It features an emerald cut faceting arrangement done so well it will stand next to the finest diamond cutting standards in the world. In fact during the cutting process of this gem the diamond cutter sacrificed an extra 1.00 carat of final weight to ensure the finest standards were upheld. Although this sounds as though material is wasted, on a diamond of this rarity maintaining the ideal cut and proportion was the highest priority. Next the clarity, simply put, it is perfect or in technical terms internally flawless. This diamond lacks any inclusions at all, even under a microscope, despite being an exceptionally large stone. Another rare trait of this stone is a very rare designation that some fine diamonds have been known to possess that is referred to as Type IIa. In the Type IIa report accompanying this stone GIA states “Type IIa diamonds are the most chemically pure type of diamond and often have exceptional optical transparency. Type IIa diamonds were first identified as originating from India (particularly from the Golconda region) but have since been discovered in all major diamond-producing regions of the world.” Combine these traits with the weight of 17.98 carats makes this diamond the perfect package, and what many would call a once in a lifetime stone.

All of this rarity and exclusivity combines to describe what is not only one of the rarest diamonds Shreve, Crump & Low has ever owned, but also one of the most beautiful. The striking appearance of this diamond in person is something that will take your breath away.
